We are North America’s leading highway and railway avalanche experts. Between providing design services on some of the largest highway avalanche projects in North America, and operating active roadway and railway avalanche safety programs, we have seen it all. Our innovative Avalanche Hazard Index GIS dashboard is currently used by several highway jurisdictions to help with the understanding and optimization of avalanche risk management.

We support both construction and remote project survey activities by providing comprehensive avalanche and mountain safety services. We have worked on the largest Canadian projects in the past 10 years including Coastal GasLink, Trans Mountain Expansion Project, Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 (TransCanada) highway upgrade, and Site C dam.

The forest sector has unique avalanche risks that range from surveyors and fallers in avalanche terrain, to protection of downslope risks including silviculture. Post-wildfire risk analysis is a specialization of Alpine Solutions and we have published papers and presented at conferences on this risk that is becoming more prevalent with a changing climate.

For over a dozen years we have been the primary avalanche services provider for leading hydroelectric providers and large telecommunications companies. Work often involves analysis of new sites, developing/maintaining avalanche safety plans, and worker safety training. We also completed design and layout for the largest single point anchor snow net system in North America, in Quebec.

Having worked on over 12 pipeline projects in the past decade, we are the go-to provider for both avalanche and mountain safety services to the oil and gas sector.

We started our company with providing our services during the lead up to the 2010 Winter Olympics, and have never looked back. Ski areas regularly contact us to provide program management reviews, as well as ski lift design parameters for snow creep and glide as well as avalanche forces. In addition, federal and provincial parks, as well as guiding operations require avalanche assessments other specialized services.

Municipalities and other jurisdictions with avalanche terrain require avalanche hazard zone mapping. We have completed some of the largest municipal and residential development avalanche hazard zoning projects to date in North America.
